Frequently Asked Questions

Laser Hair Removal

What lasers do you use and how long does treatment take?

We use industry leading Candela gentle lase Pro medical grade lasers. A laser hair removal treatment can take anywhere from 5-60 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Any way you look at it, you can be in and out on your lunch break for a medical-grade, virtually pain-free treatment with lasting results.

How long should I wait between laser treatments?

We advise 4-6 weeks in between your laser treatments, this depends on the area you are treating and your hair cycle. We will monitor your results as your treatments go along and stretch our treatment when needed.

How many treatments do I need?

This will vary from person to person, however we would recommend between 6 -10 treatments for the best results. Our experienced therapists will develop an individual treatment plan catered to your needs.

How should I prepare?

  • Avoid lengthy direct sun/UV exposure up to 4 weeks prior to your treatment
  • Remove any fake or spray tan on the area before the treatment
  • Shave the area between 12-24 hours before your treatment and ensure the area is clean
  • Do not wax or tweeze up to 6 weeks prior to your treatment
  • Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing up to 2 weeks prior to your treatment
  • Exfoliate to remove any dead skin build up
  • Avoid excessive sun/UV exposure on area being treated up to four weeks prior to treatment, this includes sunbed or tan injections)
  • Avoid using topical creams/moisturisers and perfumes on the area being treated before appointment
  • Keep us updated on any medical conditions throughout your treatment

What should I do after my treatment?

  • Use our Calming Aloe Gel to remove any excess heat from the skin. A cold pack/towel after treatment will also work wonders to remove any excess heat from the skin
  • Lightly exfoliate the treated area five days after treatment and consistently in between treatments to assist in removing the dead hair follicle and keep your skin extra smooth
  • Avoid anything that induces heat such as tight clothing, exercise, UV exposure, overly hot showers, saunas and steam rooms, within 48 hours after treatment
  • Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks & always apply sunscreen to the treated area
  • Avoid chemical heavy creams and deodorants to the treated areas within 24 hours of treatment

Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am pregnant/breastfeeding?

There are no conclusive studies on laser being safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have any concerns about proceeding with Laser Hair Removal please consult your doctor.

I have blonde hair, can I still get Laser Hair Removal?

Unfortunately, blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair do not respond to treatment. Laser hair removal cannot treat these colours as they do not produce any pigment. Therefore, the laser will not be able to attract hairs of this colour and will essentially miss them.

What Laser Hair Removal machines do you use?

We use the medical grade Candela GentleLase Pro which are the most advanced technology to achieve the most advanced results. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cools your skin before, during and post treatment to minimise any discomfort.

Can I have Laser Hair Removal over the top of tattoos?

No, unfortunately we cannot put our laser technology over the top of tattoos.

Fractional Micro Skin Needling RF

What is Fractional Micro Skin Needling RF?

This treatment is a novel approach to deliver fractional radio frequency (RF) energy to all layers of the skin with minimal damage to the skin’s surface. The multi-layered treatment is tailored to each individual and their skin type while addressing their unique skin concerns during each customized treatment. This treatment delivers energy to levels of the dermis to reorganize and restore collagen and tighten your skin.

What skin conditions does it treat?

The treatment is ideal for improving aging skin, photodamage, fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck, scars, acne scars, skin quality and striae. The treatment is safe, effective and suitable for all skin types and patients seeking skin revitalization.

How does it work?

Uses mirco needle’s to deliver radio frequency energy into varying levels of the skin including deeper layers where treatment is most beneficial. The needles deliver RF energy below the surface where it’s needed most to help revitalize and regenerate the tissue. This unique delivery of energy allows us to achieve optimal results with little to no downtime on all skin types.

What is the procedure like?

Depending on the area(s) being treated, It can be performed in a quick 30-60 minute treatment session. During the treatment, you will feel slight heating and some pressure on the treatment area. For most patients, the treatment is tolerable but your physician will work with you to maximize your comfort level.  Prior to the procedure, Our trained technicians will apply a numbing cream to the treatment area to increase comfort during the treatment.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

Patients typically need 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results (of course, depending on their customized treatment plan). Most patients report seeing improvements after the second treatment; however, results are optimized 3 months after the last treatment.

What can I expect after my procedure?

After the treatment, an ointment will be applied to the skin and you will be asked to refrain from wearing makeup for several hours. Any minor redness or swelling resulting from the treatment should subside in 12-24 hours. After the treatment, you can expect to return to normal activities.

Dermaceutic Peel Treatments

What is a peel?

A peel is an acceleration of the skin’s natural exfoliation. It is a non-invasive and progressive technique. Dermaceutic has been working with dermatologists for several decades and has substantial experience in this field.

What active ingredients are used?

In superficial peels, AHA and BHA (alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid) are used, particularly glycolic acid, the smallest fruit acid molecule. In medium peels, the most widely used agent is TCA (Trichloroacetic acid).

What are the benefits of a peel?

A peel works with your face’s morphology to give natural results that can be seen after the first session. It is an entirely natural and efficient process, administered by a professional. The peel’s discreet effect on your skin will cause your friends to comment on how radiant you look, without them knowing why.

Do I have to prepare for my first peel?

It is highly recommended that patients use the homecare regimen prescribed by their doctor to prepare the skin and get the most out of the treatment. You must start the skin care program at least 2 weeks before the first peel.

What happens during a session?

A session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes and takes place as follows: cleaning, application of the peel, and neutralization. Some peels are performed as a series of 4 sessions, which take place over the course of several weeks.

What does a professional peel feel like?

When the peeling agent is applied, you will feel some tingling and a warm sensation.

What are the effects?

Depending on the intensity of the peel, you may observe a sensation similar to mild sunburn, slight flaking, or desquamation for about 3 days following the treatment.

Genesis Rejuvenation

How does Genesis Rejuvenation work?

Genesis Rejuvenation is a non-laser therapy that involves shining highly concentrated and intense beams of light intermittently on the surface of the skin.

Is Genesis rejuvenation treatment painful?

Most clients liken Genesis to the gentle snap of an elastic band against the skin. Others experience it as a very short pinprick. While no anesthetic is required, we do cool the skin, which helps to minimize any discomfort.

What are the benefits of Genesis treatment?

Treatments require no anesthetic and they involve little or no downtime. As few as one or two treatments can reduce spots, smooth uneven pigmentation, help repair broken facial capillaries and veins, and reduce the redness associated with rosacea. Additional treatments will continue to improve tone, texture, and stimulate the dermis to produce more collagen.

What are the possible side effects of Genesis treatment?

You may experience small raised bumps and redness in the treatment area shortly after your treatment. This will subside in a few days and is no cause for alarm.

How long is a typical treatment?

A typical treatment can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Because there is little or no downtime, you can have a Genesis treatment during your lunch break.

How many treatments will I need?

The ideal number of treatments will depend upon your skin and the issues you wish to address. We usually book a series of five treatments for you to achieve optimum results.

What skin conditions and complaints can microdermabrasion treat?

Microdermabrasion provides excellent results for the following conditions:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Scar reduction
  • Excess oil production
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Enlarged and open pores
  • Superficial age spots
  • Dull, stressed and congested skin
  • Skin pigmentation
  • Stretch-marks

What happens in a typical treatment?

During treatment a fine jet of aluminium oxide crystals are sprayed on the skin and simultaneously vacuumed away with the microdermabrasion device. This has the effect of gently smoothing the skin surface and removing the outer layer of dead skin cells. With repeated treatments this results in a permanent reduction of skin surface irregularities.

For optimum skin results, how many treatments are recommended?

You will get visible improvements with 6 microdermabrasion skin treatments. That is one treatment per week for six weeks in a course of treatments. Naturally, maintenance is a great idea with one treatment per month once one has achieved the desired skin result.

Is a microdermabrasion treatment more effective for the skin than normal facial treatments?

Yes, the action of the microdermabrasion promotes skin rejuvenation producing new collagen. It does this by providing a superior exfoliation and aids lymphatic processes deep within the skin. This is much more powerful than a stand alone cosmetic product application. The microdermabrasion treatment is strong enough to ensure excellent results on its own, but gentle enough to be used in conjunction with other treatments.

Is there any down time?

No. Microdermabrasion is not a harsh or deep treatment requiring days to heal. Some redness may occur and this will vary between customers, however most redness will subside within 24 hours. Make-up can be applied immediately following the procedure which enables customers to have the treatment done during a lunch break and then return to work.

Are there any special skin care requirements for following a microdermabrasion procedure?

By removing the uppermost layer of skin, microdermabrasion encourages new skin cell generation. Procedures can make the skin much more porous and sensitive to sunlight. We strongly recommends that following a microdermabrasion treatment, you diligently apply sunscreen. One of our training therapist will advise what other skin care products you should be using.

Are there any precautions to take whilst undergoing a microdermabrasion treatment?

It is recommended that invasive procedures are avoided directly before or after a microdermabrasion treatment. Waxing should not be undertaken 2 days prior to a treatment or for at least 7 days following a treatment.
